It was a nice place to stop for a few days before heading back to Tokyo.
Great places to eat and beautiful walks around the lake.
There is a bathhouse not to far from the hotel but they do not allow tattoos- no exceptions.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views.
This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views. I went in October so out of the main season and it was nice and quiet with not many visitors around.
Renting a Swan boat and feeding the ducks was great fun!
I couldn't find a single vegetarian restaurant in town so something to be aware of if you don't eat meat or fish.
Just be aware of the army base from which you can hear artillery fire every day. It's loud and a little disconcerting!
I think Yamanakako is less touristy than Kawaguchiko which for me is a good thing.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities.
It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities. There's several hiking trails around the Lake, which are well marked and reward you with an awesome view of Fujisan when you get to the destination. The trails up to Mt Takazasu and Mt Myojin are good and take in the Panorama-Dei spot which is popolar for viewing Fujisan. All-day parking is available at Yamanakako Community Plaza Kirara, and the trailheads are 20-30min walk away from there.
There is also a very nice 15km cycling path around the Lake, which is a very long but pleasant walk. If you're not outdoorsy, then the options are more limited to the nice restaurants, and there are high end and nice lower-priced options (Denny's, Cafe Gusto). There are also various onsen and sento in the town.

Pros - Mt Fuji is a glory to see so close up and the clouds...
Pros - Mt Fuji is a glory to see so close up and the clouds and the skyline around the mountain were in a constant dance of change - breathtaking. The reflections of the sunset clouds on the lake were were dazzling. The freshness of the pristine air. The lack of high humidity. The sense of well-being offered by the area. The vehicles stopped at zebra crossings which isn't always the case in certain cities.
Cons - At times we have to walk on the road within half a metre of passing vehicles. That could have possible unwanted outcomes.

Yamanashi in general was gorgeous.
Yamanashi in general was gorgeous. We stayed at Yamanakako and it was a great place to stay at to get away from the stressful work environment in the city. We didn't get to eat at any local restaurants since we were too busy exploring the surrounding areas but you won't be left wanting for food options since everywhere you go, there's a restaurant nearby and they all looked so good. I think it would be more convenient if you travel around by car since the bus fare can get a little expensive if you're traveling far.

Yamanakako is a great place for people that don't like...
Yamanakako is a great place for people that don't like crowded locations. You can calmly cruise on your car around the lake, watch the swans, grab a coffee at one of several scenic cafes. You can take a mini-swan-boat for a spin in a small group while feeding swans and big fishes or take a mega-swan "pleasure boat" that takes you across the lake. Or you can take a hippo amphibian bus that will drive you right into the lake. Or you can just park your car and walk into the lake with a gorgeous view of Fuji with reflection. Dramatic scenery guaranteed. The only thing you won't see is a fancy infrastructure. There are some nice cafe's but many places look run down. Surprising though, considering how beautiful the nature is around.
I appreciate the warm hospitality from the staff, particularly Ms. Mitsuyo along with her another colleague, who assisted us with everything we needed. She provided helpful information about the surroundings, and both the dinner and breakfast were excellent. The breathtaking view of Mount Fuji over Lake Yamanaka added to the overall experience. The property is serene, quiet, and peaceful—ideal for anyone looking to recharge during a few nights' stay.
Location was great, great view of Fuji from our balcony. It is in quite a remote part of Yamanakako (last stop on the bus), but it was lovely and quiet and not touristy at all. The owner was super friendly, she held our bags for us the next day. They have two really cute and large cats, and lots of cat decor which was cute. The futons and the room was very comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay, highly recommend!
The hotel was situated right on Lake Yamanaka. We had a room with a view to the lake which was absolutely beautiful in the morning. There is free parking for hotel guests. Across from the hotel, you can rent bikes to cycle around the lake (14 km) and gives various views of Mt. Fuji. I also walked around the lake the following morning. Soaking in the communal bath at the end of an active day is good.
An amazing family runs the establishment who are incredibly kind and hospitable. Amazing bathing facilities (6 different types of baths) with water from Mt Fuji. Even with my extremely limited Japanese, they were able to communicate and create such a wonderful experience for me. I will be coming back anytime I am in Japan near the Mt Fuji area. They even loan bikes that allow access around the area.
Yamanakako is a very small and sleepy town. It’s fit for travelers that are looking to escape city sounds and immerse in the woods. Teiensaryo was a very pleasant stay with incredible food. The place is family run by three generations. It’s also a 5 minute walk from the bus terminal and lake. The host are very accommodating and will drop you off wherever you need to get you to your next destination.
This is a quiet and elegant hotel,
It has a unique Japanese style, and the boss is kind and friendly. If time permits, a good soak in the bath can make the tiredness of the day disappear.
Quite close to the lake, you can quickly see the beautiful and dreamy Mount Fuji.
Looking forward to visiting again~
The location is great. It’s a short 5-7 minute walk to a beautiful view of Yamanakako, and there’s a bus station there as well.
The onsen is small, but the size is ok based on the number of guests at the hotel — I used the bath both nights and only saw one other person.
The price is excellent.
Great location if you want to hike Mount Fuji! Best breakfast, but you just had to pay extra since breakfast wasn't included in the room rate. Worth it though. Very friendly staff, 50% knew English so that was helpful. Also a beautiful lake front view, you walk out front and you're there.
We liked the onsen, room and the Mt Fuji view from the room (we were lucky with clear sunny weather). It was very relaxing and the food was yum. It had convenient access for in a car and next to the lake with a convenience store nearby. Nice area to walk around too.
Firstly the room is not that expensive. We love the room which was Mt Fuji facing. The room is so spacious that you could have at least 5 ppl to live in. The onsen can be used by yourself by locking the door (the personnel said). It is a beautiful place.
The room is spacious with lake view. There is an izakaya next door which opens in the evening. There is a Family mart just next door to the hotel where you can buy convenient dinner and rest in for the day if you do not wish to go out after a nice onsen.
The pension felt like a second home at Lake Yamanaka. The hostess was extremely kind and welcoming. Since public transportation is scarce in the evening, she drove us to get dinner at a restaurant and she returned and picked us up once we were finished.
Nice relaxing stay with a view of Mt Fuji. I know only a few phrases in Japanese and the staff was so patient with me and we communicated with a google translator app. I love that we were able to rent out a BBQ area to grill our own food for dinner.
The onsen is the reason why you go to this hotel, it is a one of a kind experience when visiting Mount Fuji. The hotel is outdated, the furniture reminds you of the 80’s, nevertheless it was really spacious with great amenities.
My second time stay here. Family run hotel, the hosts treat me like their friends. Drove me to scenic spots to view Fuji. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and plentiful. Excellent value for money
Highlight is definitely the view! Cup of tea and balcony each morning. We also saw some wild deer, and did a short hike up to an amazing lookout of Mt Fuji
