The castle at Himeji is the main attraction and well worth a visit. Very beautiful and carefully restored. Beautiful grounds full of cherry trees.
The formal garden adjacent is also well worth visiting with some lovely planting.
Didn’t have time to experience anything else of the town.
We ate in a great little bar just found the corner from the hotel with delicious tempura. Lots of places were all booked up so might be worth reserving somewhere in advance.

Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit.
Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit. This is my 3rd or 4th visit. In cherry blossom season, it is nothing short of spectacular. In winter, it's not so green, but the gardens are still worth seeing and wandering through. The castle itself is worth every cent of the entry fee and one could easily spend 2 or more hours exploring all the nooks and crannies before even reaching the 6 floor castle. Climbing to the top is must, but remember you will need to take off your shoes (and the stairs are more like wide rung ladders, so hold onto the rails!
The eateries are also worthwhile visiting, with plenty of choice in the area between the station and the castle. We visited a Vietnamese restaurant at lunchtime - it was huge and totally empty apart from us, and the food was fabulous - we chose banh mi which was just as good as in its' home country.

Loved arriving on the train and as we exited the station in the evening all the Christmas lights on the wide Avenue running straight from station to the lit up Himeji Castle in the distance..just stunning. The castle is amazing and a beautiful garden alongside it. Lovely to stroll around.

Himeji castle is a must see.
Himeji castle is a must see. Extremely interesting and along with the associated park is a good 3 hour adventure. Free English speaking guides at the entrance will accompany you. Well sign posted with many displays along the route through the castle in English.

I have been here so many times.
I have been here so many times. The castle, Himeji Central Park, the aquarium.... there are so many wonderful places to visit, and at the same time, it is full of terrific shops and restaurants. I don't think there is anybody who would NOT have a good time in this pleasant little city.

The castle exceeded our expectations.
The castle exceeded our expectations. You can access the entire castle and grounds and it is more beautiful than any photo I'd seen of it. Also, the multitude of alleyways and shops is lovely, safe and fun
The features of a business hotel were available including a microwave near reception. We could easily walk to a supermarket to pick up food to eat in. Also, we were able to walk comfortably to the Castle and train station. There was a slightly higher than usual step up into the bathroom which is OK for us but could be a challenge for someone with impaired mobility.
Accessibility to train station and public bus system.
Very clean, good size room and excellent facilities. Coin laundry available in hotel.Free breakfast as part of booking- western and Japanese food available.
Very friendly staff who allowed us to leave luggage whilst we were out and about before checking in.
Short distance from railway station Himeji to the hotel, 7-11 convenience store & Himeji Castle are in short walking distance too. Even the check in time was 15:00 pm, I was allowed to check in early, which I appreciated greatly as for a long journey flight from Canada I did need to take shower and rest.
Views of Himeji castle were really nice. A short bus and short walk from the station. Seriously good value for money. A huge room and huge bathroom, much much larger than anything else we’ve stayed in Japan. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The free breakfast was great.
Tomo-san was very welcoming and the atmosphere was homely. Breakfast was tasty and different both days, and it was nice to sit with the other guests and chat to them. The shower had good pressure and heat, and the room was comfortable. Himeji Castle wasn't too far to walk.
It’s a really small hostel with an amazing location, just between the train station and the Himeji Castle. The Woman at Check In did not speak English, but she did amazing with translation apps. It’s clean and a great place to spend the night.
This is a stylish place, just along the big street that basically IS Himeji - from the station it's in the opposite direction from the castle, but not far. The rooms are fairly standard for Japan, i.e. very good but small. Staff were helpful.
location only 10 minutes walk from train station and also Himeji castle.
The lady was very kind show me the luggage transfer business where I sent our luggage . Quiet area at night . Facilities good. AC works well.
We booked this to get an experience of capsule hotel in Japan. Overall it is a good place for a short stay in Himeji. Very close to train station. Staffs are nice. Women floor is very clean.
Opulent hotel right next to the station with big clean rooms. Breakfast on the top floor was expensive but worth it. Mixture of western and japanese food.
Nice big public bath with sauna.
Well located between railway station and the castle. The personnel at the front desk very keen to help in everything. A strong point is a small gym, unusuyal in hotels in Japan.
Wonderful place to stay in Himeji! Very close to the train station an walking distance to the Himeji castle too. Our room was very spacious and clean with comfy beds.
